Jo Mills Interview
E.P. What was your first job as a Dj? When?
I had a residency at club uk in London back in 1992, I got a lot of my gigs while I was working in flying records a store in Kensington which is where I caught the buzz to mix two tunes together!
E.P. What is the best part about your job?
It’s a great experience to be able to play music you love and see the world, it’s an incredibly lucky position to be in!
E.P. And the worst?
Travelling for hours! Catching multiple flights!
E.P Your recent projects? Future projects?
I recently released a track called lullaby on back to basics recordings which was a big tune for a lot of the underground djs last summer, more recently I have just finished a single called pipe dreams with Gareth whitehead and a remix for his label bullet proof. Also I played pacha at the weekend, which was great! Love a bit of Ibiza winter clubbing! This summer I have two of the biggest residencies on the island but I can’t say too much yet!!
E.P Your favorite Dj?
Over the years Danny tenaglia has been as inspiration to me especially from the groovejet days at the Miami winter music conference …those sets are legendary! More recently there are so many good djs so anyone who plays proper house music really!
E.P What kind of music do you enjoy playing?
When I am working I like pushing grooves with fierce percussion lots of depth but still exciting… good house music
E.P What kind of music do you listen to when you’re not working?
I love soul music and disco I’m a big fan of legends such as barry white, marvin gaye and Stevie wonder, soul and disco have influenced me all my life as my parents loved this sound and got me into it!
E.P When did you come to Ibiza for the first time?
It was my first holiday abroad without my parents back in 1987 and I hated it we got burgled so we came home a week early! I was only 17!
E.P What did you think about the island?
Well we spent most nights getting drunk in the star bar and the west end , I was too young to appreciate it and I didn’t like it after we got burgled!
E.P Have you changed your mind since your first visit?
YES VERY MUCH SO!!!!! Ibiza is my home its my heart and soul now! I wouldn’t live anywhere else in the world.
E.P Your first visit to Es Paradis?
Oh I can’t remember.... a long time ago!! I was amazed at its the size and beauty, I had never seen trees in a club before?!
E.P What is the difference between Es Paradis and other clubs?
The whole feeling of light and space! Its so unique a true Ibiza experience.
E.P Your favorite place in Ibiza?
I love Santa Gertrudis village where we live, it’s a great environment for our son raffy and the centre of the island, we have all we need here but then with Ibiza being so small nothings far away where ever you are…the hole island holds such beauty the list is endless ….

Not many people know that Hannibal the great warrior that took an army and elephants through the alpes and into the north of Italy to attack Rome was born here! Just off san Antonio bay the island you can see from es paradis!!...
E.P What will you offer us at the Opening party?
Well I have heard the opening parties are amazing so lots of good driving house music with some surprises thrown in to celebrate a club nearly as old as me!!
